The Conference Travel Expense Relief Fund came as a result of my desire to have an opportunity for students to seek funding for professional development experiences. I believe that investing in these experiences is important for students, and much of the growth I’ve experienced as a young adult has been because of these extracurricular opportunities.
However, the current state of Student Government funding for these sorts of programs is messy. You have to either have a Student Organization submit their ORF form requesting funding for your attendance, or you have to know someone who’s a senator in SG who can write a SGBF for you.
This is why I’m trying to push through the CTERF. It would solve this problem with a solution, so I made a one-pager about it.
