  • Established sustainable fundraising through honey sales
  • Grown membership and engagement
  • Created meaningful connections between students and the agricultural industry

LSU Student Senate

Representing the student body in university governance, advocating for student interests, and working to improve the LSU experience for all students.

Ag Econ Quiz Bowl

Role: Team Captain

Assisting the advisor of the club in coordinating activities for the LSU Ag Econ Quiz Bowl Team, practicing for competitions, and being on the first place team for the 2024 AAEA Quiz Bowl & 2025 SAEA Quiz Bowl

What I’ve Learned

Through these roles, I’ve learned that effective leadership means:

  • Listening to understand needs and opportunities. Sometimes leaders get too attached to their visions, and they don’t let the people around them bring them back to reality. I’ve learned that just because I have the privilege of leading others doesn’t mean I get to ignore them.
  • Building systems and programs that last beyond your tenure. What I’m trying to do with SGR 13 and the LSU Agribusiness Club are to create things that people will find useful and enjoy far beyond when I’m here.
  • Connecting people and resources to create value. Sometimes being a leader means giving others the resources to shine, just because its the right thing to do. I think people get caught up too much in the rat race, and don’t want to lend a helping hand. It’s your responsibility to make sure you don’t do the same as they do.
  • Serving the communities and organizations you’re part of. You’ve been placed in a role because people respect you, and trust you. Part of paying that back is serving the people that put you in your position of leadership.
